Magic Mathworks Travelling Circus

Experiencing Mathematics through Sight, Sound, Touch and Movement

Welcome to the Magic Mathworks website

The Magic Mathworks is a travelling hands-on maths exhibition for schools, museums
and discovery centres. This touring maths lab demonstrates and explores a multisensory
approach to the learning of mathematics based on the Multiple Embodiment Principle
of Z P Dienes.

To find out more about our work

Begin with the Introduction.

For the background to our two current exhibitions, the blue for secondary children and the purple set for primary and lower secondary children, choose Magic Mathworks exhibitions.

You can also bring up a complete listing for the purple set.

For a flavour of our work with younger children, take a Photo tour or a Video tour.

Investigate Masterclasses, which we offer at both primary and secondary level.

Following up a Circus visit

Try the interactivities in the Virtual Circus.

See Extension activities. Under Using the Circus you will find activities sorted by type – drawing, measuring, and so on. Heuristics submits our stations to a dozen problem-solving techniques. For a complete inventory of the stations comprising the blue set, consult Stations/Bestandsliste.  Maths club projects are hands-on maths ideas beyond those catered for in our current exhibitions. They take the form of downloadable .pdf files. Explorations are topics pursued using the software GeoGebra. Publications are notes accompanying articles which have appeared in print.
